Abstract

This study focused on the validation of the Chinese version of the 12-item Teachers' Sense of Efficacy (C-TSE) for a group of final year pre-service teachers in Macau. It was important to ascertain the validity and reliability of this scale as this study was a pilot study of a comparative longitudinal study on the efficacy of pre-service teachers in Hong Kong and Macau during their final year of study and their first year of teaching. A total of 71 pre-service teachers, 61 women and 10 men, from Secondary, Primary, and Early Childhood Programs participated. No significant difference in teacher efficacy was found among the three groups of students. However, the factor analyses of the scale showed some interesting and meaningful results for the programs that are offered by the faculty. Copyright © 2006 Pacific Circle Consortium for Education.
