Abstract

Mobile devices (including smart phones, iPad and laptops) are common nowadays. In this sharing session, I am going to share how mobile devices can be used for teaching and learning English listening and speaking. During my English lessons, I have organized several in-class activities using mobile apps to strengthen students’ listening and speaking skills. For instance, read-aloud activities can be initiated through the use of WhatsApp. To enhance students’ vocabulary skills for speaking, dictionary apps such as Merriam-Webster were also introduced to encourage students to learn vocabulary outside class time. Some more useful and smart apps for learning listening and speaking will be further introduced during the sharing.
