Abstract
The project aimed to enhance the global awareness of students through the courses with global elements they take, and their interactions with exchange students, where applicable, and also faculty members whose background is from other parts of the world. There were 20 participating staff who enhanced the global awareness elements of their courses (18 total). Students' global awareness was assessed through a survey instrument over 3 semesters with a self-assessment of global awareness before and after receiving the course materials. There were 713 participating students. Interviews and self-reflective questionnaires were also used to assess participating staff observations on the global awareness of their students. Through these course materials (and other non-project related resources such as exchanges and study tours), Hong Kong-based students gain a better understanding of global awareness.
