Abstract

Traditionally, curriculum leadership in schools has been regarded as the responsibility of principals and deputy head teachers, few studies will focus on developing teachers' curriculum leadership in the school context. In order to support the major curriculum reform, the HKSAR government has initiated a five-year project to train and provide each primary school an additional senior teacher to serve as curriculum leader for a period of five years. This paper aims to understand whether this on-the-job training model could facilitate PSMCDs develop into successful curriculum leaders in primary schools. Ten PSMCDs participated in the on-the-job training programme were interviewed. The findings should be useful for understanding how teachers would grow up as curriculum leaders.
