Abstract

This paper reports the findings of an action research on using project-based learning( PBL) in the teaching of arts administration and management(AAM) in Hong Kong. The study involved learning of artistic programme planning in three stages over a 13-week period, during which different measures were introduced by the teacher to enhance learning outcomes. The research examined to what degree the learning outcomes had been achieved as well as the impact of these measures on learning effectiveness. Through focus group discussions with 78 students who took this undergraduate course, as well as analysis of the work they produced(verbal presentations and written proposals), the study verified that PBL has increased the motivation of students in applying the skills and knowledge they learned on artistic programme planning.
