STEM education is receiving an increasing attention in Hong Kong and world-wide. Its key objective is to develop creativity of students through “design and make” activities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. “STEM+A” represents a combination of STEM and its integration with Arts. A minor programme, titled "Creativity", has already been offered in EdUHK for 5 years. The programme is co-organized by the Science and Arts department, and consists of nine elective courses that include creativity training in science, technology, arts, music, sustainability, teaching and daily-life. The present project aims at strengthening the STEM+A learning in six to eight relevant courses in the Creativity minor, with a special emphasis on art-science integration. A parallel aim of the project is to develop effective methods for enhancing student developments in creativity through this cross-disciplinary STEM+A learning. Our study would adopt the action research approach in designing, implementing, evaluating and revising the teaching and learning methods. At the end, the outcomes of this project will be disseminated through seminar, workshop and publications. Ultimately, we hope that our efforts can benefit all incoming students and teachers in Creativity minor, other programmes of EdUHK, and all primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong, in the realizing of the creative STEM+A education.
