Abstract

The aim of this project is to strengthen the development of the MEd Specialization" Parent Education and Family Support" and to educate and support parents and families to support children's growth and development. This is in line with the Institute's Blueprints' Education Plus philosophy. The specialization also initiates international collaboration as suggested in the Institute Strategic Plan. The project aims specifically to: •develop on line teaching materials for 4 new modules developed for the MEd Specialization of "Parent Education and Family Support". •work with Ackerman Family Institute and the Institute for Family and Work, and other Institutes in Families and Parent Education to develop the Specialization. •provide training for the teaching team and the colleagues in the HKIEd who have interest in the area of Parent Education and Family Support. •enhance cross-sectoral collaboration between the HKIEd, family institutes, schools, social workers, professional counseling associations and NGOs. The project will be divided into three parts: •Consultation and Staff Development Jan 2010 - December 2011; •Development of on-line teaching materials for the courses May 2010 - December 2011; •Organizing visits, workshops and joint activities with professionals in different sectors March 2010 - December 2011. The project will be evaluated both externally and internally including evaluation by external consultant(s), the teaching team, HKIEd colleagues, students and other professional groups.
