Abstract

An introductory text book for undergraduate students has been written based on a revision of a New Zealand textbook co-authored by the Principal Supervisor. Pearson Education South Asia in Singapore will publish the text (Contemporary educational assessment: Practices, principles, and policies) as a custom publication in time for the start of the September 2009 semester. The revision involved locating Hong Kong resources to replace figures and content in the book to make it suitable as a required text book for the English-medium C&I BEd Module CUI 2087 Assessment and as a recommended text for English-medium PGDE (S) + (P) modules CUI5046 Curriculum & Assessment. Further, additional supplementary tutorial activities and self-quizzes will be created from July to December 2009 for access through eLearning systems at the HKIED so that it is a more complete teaching resource. Resources will include a survey system on which students can evaluate their personal beliefs about assessment by completing Brown's Teachers' Conceptions of Assessment inventory.
