Abstract
A class of rhenium(I) tricarbonyl diimine complexes with carboxaldehyde alkynyl ligands, [Re(CO)₃(N^N)(CC-C₆H₄-CHO)] (N^N = α,α′-diimine ligand), has been successfully synthesized and characterized, and the X-ray crystal structure of one of the complexes has been determined. Electrochemical and photophysical studies have been performed to study the effect of the variation of the diimine ligand on the redox and optical properties of the rhenium(I) complexes.
