Abstract

This chapter discusses the strategies and implementation methods to manage school Intellectual Capital (IC) for sustainable development. As an initiative of strategic resource management, the school IC management mechanism should be institutionalised and operated along with the school strategic management cycle. The school IC management strategies to leverage, apply, innovate, and protect their IC should be determined. A set of IC indicators is proposed to measure and report the school IC to help stakeholders understand the strengths and weaknesses of their schools and formulate development plans. The conditions for school IC development include leadership, collaboration, knowledge management, and technology management are discussed. The choice of the indicators should be related to individual school contexts and be aligned with the school development to reflect intangible assets. School leaders should create conditions to implement the IC management. Copyright © 2023 selection and editorial matter, Eric C. K. Cheng; individual chapters, the contributors.
