Abstract

Pedagogical design of the mobile learning has been increasingly emphasized in recent studies, but the learning design from a holistic view on the curriculum development is still frail. To indicate the learning efficacy of a well-designed innovative mobile curriculum, this paper reports a sustainable science curriculum supported by the mobile learning tools, with the integration of an inquiry-based instruction model and the principles of technology integration. In the paper, key elements of pedagogical design of the mobile curriculum will be interpreted, methods of technology integration will be presented. The transformation of students learning will be demonstrated by the findings from quantitative and qualitative data analysis on students test achievement, and activity performance in and out of classroom. The study does not just show case of the results of a curriculum innovation, but present how a rigor pedagogical design of mobile learning serves for students’ achievement on the learning objectives stated in the curriculum standard.
