Abstract
Multiple citizen identities of the Chinese in the Chinese diaspora - On the basis of the debate on the citizenship notions developed in the literature, the author argues that political explanations per se are insufficient in understanding the complexities of the issue of national identity among many nationals today. With reference to the Chinese Diaspora, and in the broader context of the globalization, the necessity of a cultural and/or intercultural perspective is supported. This perspective further implies the need to adopt a language perspective in understanding the cultural (or intercultural) identities. Copyright © 2009 Franco Angeli Edizioni.
