Multiple-choice test item analysis by spreadsheet macros

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapters

Abstract

To produce good quality MC tests, the commonly used tools are item analysis and test reliability. Although most teachers have learnt how to use these techniques, it is uncommon for a class teacher to use them in schools as it is quite difficult to do the analysis manually. This article attempts to investigate the possibility of using an electronic spreadsheet to solve the problems and gives discussions on the worksheet functions approach and the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) approach.
