Abstract

This symposium will draw on different perspectives and approaches to analysing the data available from the International Civic and Citizenship Study (ICCS) to study adolescents' citizenship and moral understanding. We will also evaluate the implications of the results for moral education and moral development in the future. One part of the symposium will focus on discussion of the five Eastern and South Eastern societies that have participated in ICCS, namely, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Indonesia and Thailand.
