Introduction and background to free learning

Ross PARKER, David CONIAM

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapters

Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of Free Learning, an approach to learning and teaching originating from the work of Parker (2017). It offers background in terms of how and why Free Learning was developed and the various contexts in which it has been applied, which span the gamut from primary education to tertiary education and beyond. Introductory links to theory are made, with the aim of positioning Free Learning within the wider literature – a topic which is more fully explored in Section II of this book. The chapter concludes with an evaluation of Free Learning. Copyright © 2022 selection and editorial matter, Ross Parker, David Coniam and Peter Falvey; individual chapters, the contributors.
