N2 - This project aims to keep art education in pace with trends of technological development, the academia and the Asian region. The objectives are indeed in line with the Institute's Strategic Plan 2009-2012 and Beyond: Firstly, it prepares both the Institute and the students for the New Senior Visual Arts curriculum. The new VA curriculum does not concern about arts making alone, it appreciates the need of arts appreciation and criticism, as well as the need to 'rediscover links to the Chinese artistic heritage and connections to the art of Asia and other cultural contexts'. The rediscovery of both Chinese and Asian artistic heritage entrench the study of arts and cultures at all levels; namely, the rationale of new VA curriculum echoes perfectly to SC4 "Chinese Cultural Heritage in the Modern World" within the area of study "Society and Culture" of the new Liberal Studies curricul um. By establishing an online database for teaching and learning resources of local visual art and related artists, the goal in entrenching the study of arts and cultures at all levels can be realised; a s ignificant number of population, including students, teachers and even the public can learn more about Hong Kong culture through this public platform.
