Abstract
In our previous work, we developed the concept of the ‘internationally-facing school’ as a heuristic for understanding international schooling in a ‘post-global’ era. We argued that ‘internationally-facing schools’ better captures the changing global and national dynamics and transcends traditional dichotomies between the global and the local. In this conceptual paper, we extend this dialogue and argue that one approach to realise this potential starts from a reimagined framework of an integrated curriculum. Specifically, we reiterate the educational purposes, explain our rationales for starting from curriculum and philosophical orientations, and elaborate on practicalities of an integrated curriculum in ‘internationally-facing’ schools.
