Abstract

This research aim at promoting the integration of information technology in the learning and teaching of subject knowledge for fostering the inquisitive ability of learners in the learning process, which is an essential quality of life-long learners. This study discussed how computer-mediated learning resources are designed and implemented for supporting the inquiry approach for building knowledge of family tree in primary school education. The computer-mediated learning resources included an audio-visual database of nomenclature of a typical Chinese family tree, an interactive interface for building knowledge of nomenclature, and an environment for constructing the family tree of a learner. The role of teacher is to encourage learners to use the learning resources to generate knowledge of family tree in the inquiry process. Copyright © 2004 全球華人計算機教育應用學會.
