Abstract

The lives of two generations have been touched in various ways by the dynamic Hugh Philp, the Foundation Professor of Education at Macquarie University, Sydney. Nicknamed 'Hug' by his colleagues, the bearded emeritus professor left a lasting mark on local, national and international education, and the significance of his contribution was publicly recognised in 1998 when he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM).
