Abstract
To promote environmental education in Hong Kong, the Centre for Education in Environmental Sustainability (CEES) invited Mr. LEE Meng-fa, a well-known Taiwan environmentalist, to the HKIEd. Mr Lee and the Green Island Elephant (the Elephant) are icon of waste recycling in Taiwan, visited the institute in last September to conduct an international Environmental Education Workshop. The workshop was about the story of Mr Lee and how he transformed himself into an environmental educator through his encounter with the Elephant in Taiwan. The workshop has attracted more than 30 students of HKIED. The main purpose was to encourage them to exchange environmental knowledge through participating in various DIY activities and to learn how to execute environmental education to youngsters. This workshop had stimulated students to participate in environmental education, but also built long term collaboration with Taiwan environmentalist so as to cultivate Hong Kong residents’ environmental attitudes in daily life.
