Abstract

This chapter investigates the changed situation regarding future directions for preparing teachers for inclusion. A summary of the altered role for teachers and the expectations for them in regard to inclusive education are addressed. Two confl icting spheres of infl uence are raised whereby equity and accountability are considered as opposing pressures in preparing teachers for inclusion. An Inclusive Wheel is proffered as a metaphor for the interactive nature of many aspects of inclusion that need to be addressed simultaneously if teacher education is to be effective and to move forward.
