From living in cultural and linguistic diversity to equitable outcomes in education: An introduction

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapters

Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the contributions in this book, which brings together a group of scholars interested to shed light on the educational experiences of different ethnic minority groups in multilingual contexts in Asia. It draws together studies and perspectives that link ethnolinguistic practices, racialized experiences, and institutional policies and processes on how ethnic minorities in the region are situated in their historical and contemporary moments. Through the insights arising from these contributions, it is argued that debates on how equitable outcomes in education might be achieved can be moved forward by paying attention to and making the case for recognizing and valuing cultural and linguistic diversity in Asian societies.
