Abstract

In this chapter we aimed to examine the influence of family mealtime environment on children’s behavior, in addition to styles of parenting and family functioning. This study adopted a two-wave longitudinal design. Data was collected over two rounds, 12 months apart, from 470 parents with children aged three to six. Parents completed measures on their parenting style, family functioning, children’s behavior, family meal frequency, family feeding practice and mealtime television. Family feeding practice and parenting style were found to be associated with children’s behavior. Family feeding practice mediated between parenting style and children’s behavior. Family mealtime environment is important on children’s behavior. Copyright © 2020 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
