Expressing temporality in child Cantonese

Abstract

This paper investigates how Hong Kong preschool Cantonese children express temporality in storytelling. Results show a differential use of aspect markers, time adverbs and connectives. The issues of perspectives taken by the children and adults in narrating the events were compared and discussed.
