Exploring the impact of principals’ emotion intelligence on teaching strategy mediated by principals’ instructional leadership

Abstract

Emotional intelligence is the cornerstone of every decision a principalmakes. The study examined the impact of school principals’ emotional intelligence on their teachers’ instructional strategies mediated by principals’ instructional leadership using a responses of 534 from 54 primary schools in China. The originalmodels could not be recovered and with factor analysis alternativemodels were found. Structural equation modelling showed that the relationships between the three constructs and between dimensional levels. This study has reinforced that emotional intelligence is amust for instructional school leadership effectiveness and teaching improvement. Implications on theories and principals preparation have been discussed.
