Abstract

As part of the TDG project ‘Hooking Struggling Readers with Books They CAN and WANT to Read’, 27 pre-service English teachers were recruited to explore the use of e-books as a tool to support learning to read. Through creating e-books and conducting trial lessons in local primary schools, the recruited pre-service teachers were provided with opportunities to experience new ways to support pupils who struggle to learn to read. This presentation aims to showcase how this project increased the recruited pre-service English teachers’ understanding of e-books. Recommendations on how we can help our pre-service teachers to harness technology in the classroom will also be shared. Copyright © 2020 The Education University of Hong Kong.
