Abstract
Given the fact that language teachers undergo a myriad of issues physically and mentally on a daily basis, research into teacher wellbeing has come to be an indispensable part of language education. While classroom observations and interviews are the common methods used, they are not without drawbacks, especially in cases where the researcher wants to expand the scope internationally. Digital technologies have opened up research that used to be limited to localised studies of teacher attitudes to a broader international community. Not only do digital technologies enable researchers to explore online communities that discuss issues related to wellbeing in real time, but they also make it possible to administer surveys, carry out interviews, as well as store and analyse data. Thus, the contribution of digital technology to research into teacher wellbeing can be seen in all aspects of needs analyses, subject recruitment, data collection, and data analysis, combining to allow new perspectives on the state of teacher wellbeing that can lead to better policy and practice.
