Abstract
Interactive learning with advanced technologies is a trend for future study and cultural heritage is now becoming more an important issue in the rapid developing Hong Kong society. Due to the fast change of urban landscape and cultural context, advanced technologies can help to capture the scenes of old and new, representing them to the public and students in a more attractive way instead of the archaic listing of the disappeared or disappearing heritage on books and exhibitions. The project primarily aims at enhancing learner autonomy in utilizing technology, media, and telecommunications while enhancing better interaction between student and teacher in higher education settings. Through teacher curatorship in managing digital resources with a focus on cultural heritage, this project aims at creating a unique learning space outside the classroom with the aid of an online learning web platform that is publicly accessible. Students will be guided to autonomously develop an understanding of local socio-cultural issues behind the heritage buildings. Besides developing social interaction and communication skills via this online platform, students' critical and creative thinking skills will be enhanced by creating their own multi-media work related to the cultural heritage and through peer evaluation using innovative technology.
