Abstract
This article presents four models of language education that have been adopted in ethnic minority schools to cope with the pressures to learn national and international languages in addition to the local tongue as part of economic development. Some models support the local tongue. Others do not - signalling a threat to the social and cultural sustainability of ethnic minority groups. Copyright © 2013 NORRAG.
