Abstract

This chapter discusses possible crises that may occur in the classroom or at school, and suggests solutions for dealing with the issue of crisis management from a macro point of view, focusing on the positive effect it may have on school guidance. From the point of view of the ‘crisis management cycle’, the government’s proposal for setting up a crisis management committee in every school presents a good opportunity to examine the related theoretical framework, and to cite two different instance of ‘crises’ for analysis. The cases will be approached separately at the individual level as well as the group/school level. Discussions on the use of different intervention strategies and the intended improvement will also be included. Copyright © 2013 Hong Kong University Press.
