Abstract
Despite considerable discussion on the Confucian revival in China over the past several decades, its effects on school curriculum and youth lives remain largely unexplored. This study examined the incorporation of the Confucian tradition into the curricular discourses of political education in China and explored how students understand Confucianism and perceive its impact on their worldviews. Data sources for this study included official political education textbooks and semi-structured interviews conducted with university students from different backgrounds in two geographical regions. The research findings highlight the importance of emancipating Confucian teaching and learning from political monopoly and manipulation. Copyright © 2024 AERA.
