Abstract

This paper explores two major challenges facing students in CLIL classrooms, particularly at secondary level as content becomes more complex and the language focus becomes more academic. It then presents three pedagogical principles derived from these challenges which teachers can apply to support student learning. These principles are exemplified in sample teaching materials / activities.
