ICT has become an important part of the curriculum in Hong Kong's early childhood settings. However, practitioners may experience challenges in integrating ICT successfully into teaching and learning. This paper reports a study that investigated ICT in two kindergartens in Hong Kong. Findings suggested that principals and teachers have different views regarding the use of ICT with young children. Principals think that providing sufficient computer hardware is good enough to promote children's learning. However, teachers do not know how to integrate ICT in the curriculum, and find that time is too short to use computers in the overcrowded curriculum. There are challenges that principals, teachers and parents must resolve to ensure the fruitful use of ICT with young children. Copyright © 2003 Australian Computer Society, Inc.
