A review of moral education curriculum materials in Hong Kong

Abstract

The article reviews the moral education curriculum materials in Hong Kong. Moral education in Hong Kong does not usually occupy a regular slot in the school timetable. The teaching of moral education is mainly promoted through school assemblies, form teacher periods and extra-curricular activities. The development and promotion of moral education in Hong Kong has been minimal when compared with the general development of education, and of civic education in particular. The article informs that the General guidelines on moral education in schools is the only exclusive government guidance issued to schools on moral education.
