Abstract

The species cis-[Ruᴵᴵ(2,9-Me₂phen) ₂(OH2)₂]²⁺, both in homogeneous solution and supported on Dowex cation-exchange resin, is a highly active and robust catalyst for the oxidation of alcohols and alkenes in water at room temperature, using Ce(IV) and IO₄⁻ as terminal oxidants, with a turnover number (TON) of >10⁴. Copyright © 2011 American Chemical Society.
