Abstract

A study is described on the important IS/IT skills required by IS/IT personnel, namely the systems analysts and programmers in Hong Kong. Opinions from 116 IS/IT managers in Hong Kong were sought by using questionnaires via mail. They were asked to rate 54 IS/IT skills (of 7 categories) required by IS/IT personnel at present (1993) and in 5 years time (1998) using a 5-point Likert scale. The data are analyzed, and the results are discussed and compared with the findings of a similar study in the US. Copyright © 1995 International Journal of Management.
