Abstract

This paper reports my reflection on developing new measures in the teaching of a visual arts module, of which included collaboration with guest lecturer, application of the integrated arts approach, peer observation, preparation of written reflection by students, and videotaping of lecture. These measures were directly related to formative assessment for students’ learning and reflection for improving my teaching. The various issues and problems of effectuating the measures were reviewed and diagnosed within an action research context in which professional reflection was conducted. The reflective findings generated shed light on the development and application of some teaching strategies recently being put into practice by teacher educators in general and teacher educators in the field of visual arts.
