香港粵語句末助詞聲調與句調關係的初探

本文通過語音實驗，論證香港粵語句末助詞的超音段特徵並非單純的聲調，而是句調，具有一定的語用意義，並具有一定的句法地位。根據粵語句末助詞的聲調分佈，高平調（調值為55）、中平調（33）和低降調（21）可視為粵語基本的句末邊界句調。兩個上升調，即高升調（35）和低升調（23），可分析為疑問句上升調的同時叠加，或者不同基本句末邊界調連續叠加的結果。本文的實驗結果表明，句末助詞可視為語段化的句調。本文進一步支持句末助詞和句調關係的理論。
It is proposed in this paper that the suprasegmental features of sentence-final particles (SFPs henceforth) in Cantonese are intonational rather than simply lexical-tonal, i.e., they reflect pragmatic and syntactic features at the sentence level. Tones of SFPs cover the six-tone system in Cantonese, among which Tone 1 (55), Tone 3 (33), and Tone 4 (21) are basic sentence-final boundary tones, as discussed in previous literature. It is argued that the two rising tones, Tone 2 (35) and Tone 5 (23), are the results of simultaneous addition of the interrogative rising intonation or successive addition of the basic sentence-final boundary tones, as evidenced by the findings of phonetic experiments conducted in the present study, which suggests that the theoretical hypothesis of interrelationship between SFP and intonation should be on the right track.
