香港新高中視覺藝術課程芻議

Abstract

2004年香港教育統籌局發表了《改革高中及高等教育學制─對未來的投資》及《新高中課程核心及選修目架構建議諮詢初稿》(下稱《新高中文件》),以為高中制度及課程作出改革。然而,這兩份文件卻帶出藝術教育被邊緣化的各種隱憂。本文試就新高中學制改革、課改架構以及視覺藝術課程內容的正反觀點,作出分析,說明是次改革實與教統局年前提出「八大學習領域」的全人教育方針背道而馳。同時,本文亦對視覺藝術科的課程設計理念及學習模式,提出建議,希望可為香港發展一套具本地特色的視覺文化及藝術教育系統。
To implement a new senior secondary (NSS) education system and curriculum, the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) published the papers Reforming the Academic Structure for Senior Secondary Education and Higher Education: Actions for Investing in the Future and Proposed Core and Elective Subject Frameworks for the New Senior Secondary Curriculum (1st Draft for Consultation) (NSS Papers). Nevertheless, the papers have given rise to concerns about possible marginalization of arts education. In analyzing the arguments for and against the new academic structure, the new curriculum framework and the content of visual arts education, this essay seeks to elucidate how the proposed reforms run contrary to the idea of whole-person education through eight Key Learning Areas introduced by the same bureau some years ago. Suggestions on the design and learning modes of Visual Arts will also be put forward in the hope of tailor-making a framework for visual culture and arts education for Hong Kong.
