張惠言的賦學思想及其淵源

Abstract

張惠言是清代文學批評中重要人物,以常州詞派和《詞選》聞名於世。與詞學相比,張氏在賦學上的成就則較少有人留意。實際上,賦學是張惠言早期文學思想的重點,賦學批評對他後來解讀文學方法的建立產生了極大的影響。因此揭橥張惠言的賦學思想有助我們了解他賦學批評乃至其他文類的解讀方法。本文把視角放在前人關注不多的賦學材料上,以文獻學與文本細讀的方法,重新對張惠言的賦學選本《七十家賦鈔》進行考察,結合他的文學理論與實際評點,歸納張惠言的賦學思想;與此同時,筆者同樣關照張惠言的學術背景,嘗試從方法上釐清張惠言賦學思想中的學術淵源,並回應學界有關這一問題的討論;最後亦會結合張氏自己的創作來發掘他在清代賦壇上的影響與地位,冀從多個角度推進目前有關張惠言個人及其賦學的研究。本文共分為六章。首章回顧目前張惠言賦學研究上的空缺並闡述本研究的意義。第二章從文獻學角度指出《七十家賦鈔》的價值,確立研究範圍。第三章以《七十家賦鈔》的序言和評點為兩個突破點,結合二者整理張惠言的賦學思想。第四章首先舉出過去學者探究張惠言賦學批評淵源的不足,通過全面整理張氏賦學評點中的方法,澄清他賦學批評的淵源究竟為何。第五章從文學史角度切入,以同時期的律賦論者和古賦論家為參照,展示張惠言賦學思想的特色,同時亦參考張氏本人的作品,進一步考察我們對他的賦學思想的理解。末章為全文結論,回顧本文所得以及文章特色。
Zhang Hui-yan, an influential scholar of literary criticism in the Qing Dynasty, is widely known for the Changzhou Ci School and the Selection of Ci. By contrast, there has been little discussion made in his contributions to Fu study. Actually, Zhang’s early study of Fu had a huge influence on the development of his method of literary interpretation. Therefore, an understanding of Zhang’s thoughts about Fu would help us understand his method of criticism for Fu and other genres. This dissertation undertakes to put the missing puzzle back to the picture of the contemporary Zhang Hui-yan scholarship by examining previously understudied materials of Zhang’s study of Fu. Zhang’ work Selected Works of Fu from Seventy Writers will be re-examined in the method of bibliography and close reading, and his thought of Fu will be summarized by literary theory and his actual annotation. At the same time, in response to the discussion about the academic origins of Zhang’s thought of Fu, Zhang’s academic background and method will also be analyzed to clarify the academic origins in Zhang’s thought of Fu. Finally, there will be purports to reveal Zhang’s status and effect by discussing Zhang’s own creations. The dissertation is divided into six chapters. The first chapter aims to review the current literature of Zhang Hui-yan study and explains the significance of focusing on his thoughts about Fu. The second chapter points out the value of Selected Works of Fu from Seventy Writers from the perspective of classical philology and delimits the scope of this study. The third chapter excavates Zhang’s thoughts about Fu from the preface and annotation of the Selected works of Fu from Seventy Writers. Chapter Four firstly reveals the shortcomings of previous studies on the origin of Zhang’s Fu criticism, and secondly, clarifies the origin of Zhang’s thoughts evidenced by traces from a comprehensive review of Zhang’s method for Fu criticism. From the perspective of literary history, the fifth chapter compares the characteristics of Zhang’s Fu study to the work of Rhymed Fu and Ancient Fu scholars. In addition, going beyond his criticism, Zhang’s own works of Fu are examined for a better understanding of his theory about Fu. Conclusions of the dissertation will be given in the sixth chapter.
