「國民教育」的先聲:清末民初新式國文教科書

Abstract

清朝末年,中國出現了「千年未見之大變局」,許多有識之士都投入到「啟蒙」和「救亡」熱潮當中。如何能把國人從一盤散沙的蒼生,轉化為現代的新國民?知識分子們認為新式教科書,特別是「新國文」教科書,是其中一樣最好的工具,這也是和中國文化中「經世致用」思想有非常密切的關係的。經過「新國文」敎科書工作者的長期努力,國人在意識形態、國家民族、倫理道德、經濟民生、生活習慣等觀念上都出現了很大的變化,新時代的「新國民」逐漸形成。
During the late Qing Dynasty, China underwent “a transformation of the millennium”. Many intellectuals eagerly sought a road of “enlightenment” and “revival”. Many of these intellectual elites believed that new textbooks, in particular the “new Chinese” textbook, would be the most effective tools for a transformation of the disorganised, poorly educated population into new modern citizens. After the efforts, spanning many years of these intellectuals, there was a great change in many Chinese people’s concepts of ideology, nationality, ethics, morality, economics, livelihood, and living habits.
