Working Memory Training on Young Children with ADHD and/or RD: A Randomized Placebo-controlled Trial

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The main aim of this project is to design and analyse the effectiveness of a computerized working memory training on near-transfer effects (working memory and executive functioning), and far-transfer effects (learning, clinical symptoms and functional impairment) in children with Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and/or Reading Disability (RD). The working memory training included two innovative training tasks – Chinese-word N-back matching and Chinese-word spatial matching, with stimuli comprised of similar phoneme or orthography structure. The training tasks are designed to address the specific working memory deficits in the local ADHD children and RD children. If the result is positive, this will be the first evidence-based working memory training app targeting ADHD/RD children in Hong Kong.
