Description
This is a two-year project, which supports non-Chinese-speaking (NCS) kindergarten students in learning Chinese language. The project aims to develop a Chinese as second language curriculum, teaching materials, out-of-class instructions and assessment tools for kindergarten students. The project is funded by Oxfam Hong Kong and implemented in partnership with the University of Hong Kong and the Education University of Hong Kong. This is the first project of similar nature with collaboration of NGO, universities and kindergartens. The project will be implemented by two phases according to the school years, 15/16 and 16/17. The research results on the effectiveness of Chinese language learning of non-Chinese speaking students will be published at project’s end.
