Project Details
Description
The proposed project aims to provide a scientific evaluation of the effectiveness of the “Citywide Programme to Promote Healthy Living through Active Lifestyle”, a programme funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. The programme is the first citywide physical activity promotion in Hong Kong. The evaluation project will carry valuable practical and scientific values because it will not only provide a scientific evaluation on a large-large community sports programme, but it will offer critical insights regarding how future sports promotion programme could be optimized in the future. The evaluation will adopt a waitlist-control experimental design to examine the impact of the programme on the youth participants’ fitness condition, psychological well-being, physical activity level, and other motivational outcomes (e.g., autonomous motivation, attitude, subjective norm, self-efficacy, and intention). In addition, participants’ experience, satisfaction, and feedback on the programme will be collected through qualitative interviews. The project team will analyse the data collected and produce an interim report (by the end of Year 3) and a final report (by 3 months following the end of Year 5) about the effectiveness of the programme.
