The research was conducted in response to voices in the field who have experienced difficulties in implementing the child-centered practices in their classrooms. Through collaboration action research with the entire teaching staff in a Catholic-run kindergarten as co-researchers, the researcher had gained in knowledge of the relationship between the pedagogy used by child-centered approach and the sort of difficulties involved. Endorsed by the EMB policy, a school-based research on curriculum studies based on the Catholic religious principles was conducted so as to ascertain this variable is to be considered while upkeeping with the overall school reform policy in Hong Kong.
