ELPA: a collaborative project on developing an English test to assess students’ English proficiency after admission

    Project: Research project

    Project Details

    Description

ELPA has been used at HKUST and HKIEd for entry benchmarking of the 4-year/5-year degree students since 2012. This joint proposal by both institutions seeks to further develop ELPA into a comprehensive assessment mechanism to measure proficiency growth beyond Year 1. With the termination of CEPAS from 2014-15, we believe that the new ELPA can act as an effective testing system not just for entry benchmarking, but to collect information to inform other decisions related to learning, teaching, curriculum development, and policies.
