Description
The research project aims at enhancing students independent thinking, analytical and critical mind as well as language proficiency, through a series of systematic activities and art appreciation workshops toward the local visual artforms, such as fine artists' artworks, film, comics, TV advertisement, MTV and craft. The contextualistic art criticism will be structured as the theoretical framework for the research project. The research will involve semi-structured, open-ended interviews with SIX participating secondary school art teachers and their students. The research materials of the pilot study will be documented and compiled as an arts criticism training manual which will be distributed to the local secondary schools. The content of the manual will include: teaching content and methods, illustrations, exercise designing, worksheets, methods of effective evaluation, teaching materials and tools, reference books, etc.
