Blocked Youth Social Mobility in Hong Kong: Myth or Reality?

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

This project proposes to examine the latest social mobility situation of Hong Kong youth, uncover the factors that affect their social mobility, explore the potential mechanism of how those factors interact with each other, and assess the impact of social mobility. Specifically, the project will concentrate on three themes within the research of social mobility: intra-generational mobility, intergenerational mobility, and the impact of social mobility on persons’ life satisfaction. Finally, the project will help clear the ground for further discussion on the right kind of policies to promote youth social mobility in Hong Kong, remove barriers in the education and labour market transition for youth, and help sustain social harmony
