Professor Zi YAN is a RGC Senior Research Fellow, and the Head of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction, the Education University of Hong Kong. He is also the Co-Director of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) and Associate Director of the Assessment Research Centre (ARC). His publications and research interests focus on two related areas, i.e., educational assessment in the school and higher education contexts with an emphasis on student self-assessment; and Rasch measurement, in particular its application in educational and psychological research. He is the author of Student self-assessment as a process for learning (Routledge, 2022) and Applying the Rasch model: Fundamental measurement in the human sciences (Routledge, 2020). He is the recipient of the President's Research Excellence Award (2021/22) and in Stanford University's list of the world's top 2% most-cited scientists (2021, 2022, 2023).
