Dr. Sylvia Yee-fan TANG is an Associate Professor at the Department of Education Policy and Leadership, and the Associate Dean (Learning and Teaching) of the Faculty of Education and Human Development of the Education University of Hong Kong. Before working in teacher education, she was a secondary school teacher in Hong Kong. Dr Tang holds a doctorate from the University of Wales, Cardiff. Her research interests cover various aspects of teacher education and development, including initial teacher education, student teachers’ professional learning and competence, teachers’ continuing professional development, and mentoring. Dr Tang has published over 40 journal articles and book chapters internationally and regionally. She was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Education of the University of Oxford in fall 2008. Dr Tang teaches a range of courses related to the area teacher education and development as well as qualitative approaches to educational research, including undergraduate and PGDE programmes, Master and Doctor of Education programmes, professional development programmes for teachers and school principals.
